Starter houses should be small but beautiful. For the past fifty years American houses have increased in size and decreased in quality. At the same time, housing supply has not kept up with demand. These house plans re-imagine the starter home as a smaller, better solution for young family living. Based on early 20th century small suburban house forms, these plans combine iconic residential imagery with contemporary open plan living. Emphasis is placed on expansive space as footprints are kept to a minimum. Conventional construction techniques and repetitive devices make way for creative detailing.
